The Avenue School Judged 'Outstanding' By Ofsted
The Avenue School received an Ofsted visit before the October half term on Wednesday 11th October and Thursday 12th October 2023. This was the first time the school had been inspected under the new Ofsted framework and we are extremely proud to inform you the inspectors judged the school to be ‘Outstanding’ in all areas. This is a phenomenal judgement for the School, Trust and community.
The Ofsted report highlights all areas as exemplary stating ‘The school’s curriculum thinking, is exceptionally well developed’ and ‘all people who work in this school, do so with much enthusiasm and tremendous care for every pupil’. Inspectors observed that ‘all leaders and staff share the same ambition to help pupils to achieve their absolute best’ and recognised the significant impact of our collective approach of working together with therapists and behaviour support, stating it ‘is highly effective in preparing pupils for independent adult living’.
The report refers to our unique approach to managing behaviour, and inspectors were impressed with how this assists our pupils with engaging positively with the work and how they gain the skills to socialise effectively.
It was observed and also came through inspectors meetings with senior leaders, subject leads and therapists how we as a school develop our pupils key life skills, for example weekly real life opportunities planned for our pupils to apply knowledge in maths.
Inspectors found ‘pupils’ working relationships with adults exemplary’ and ‘parents and carers who responded to Ofsted’s survey were glowing about the school’, which is brilliant and a testament to all the hard work.
We are delighted with this report which highlights and demonstrates how The Avenue School are aspirational and driven continuously to support our pupils achieve their absolute best. Additionally, we are pleased that The Avenue staff’s dedication and unwavering commitment has been recognised and applauded by inspectors.
